How many windmills does our municipality have? What kind of windmills are they? Who will be able to tell you more about the history of this beautiful piece of cultural heritage in combination with our water and polder history? Those were just a few questions of the many that were asked during a brainstorming
session. This was also the reason for starting the project, “Mills on the map”.
The aim of this project is to literally put the windmills within the municipality of Kaag en Braassem on the map, by means of an educational program and entertainment around the windmill. The project is a partnership between millers, the Rijnlandse Molenstichting (Rhineland Mill Foundation), the municipality, local businesses and Kaag & Braassem Promotion.
On 12 May 2018 the day of the Dutch windmill will be held. All windmills in Kaag en Braassem are open for visitors this day. The millers are happy to welcome you.
The following millers will participate in ‘Meet the Miller’:
Jan Verhaar – from the Kagermolen
André van der Pouw Kraan – from Lijkermolen no. 2
Peter van Driel – from the Buurtermolen
Aad Toet – from the Moppemolen
