Kaag & Braassem canoe route

You will sail along a varied shore landscape, through the area with the most mills in the Netherlands. With your canoe, you will discover areas of silence which are not accessible for motorized boating vehicles. A nice addition to this route is the canoe and sloop route through the polders of Roelofarendveen. In this not unpeated polder, the many waterways will guide you through old horticultural area. You can enter this polder via the lock at the Braassemermeer. Enjoy the tranquility and spaciousness of this remarkable area of the Dutch lakes. 

The ‘Kagerplassen’ and the adjectant ‘Braassmermeer’ are watery areas where, during Summer days, it can be pleasantly busy. Around the Kaag, the Braassem and Wijde Aa there are marinas for water sports enthusiasts and there are many terraces along the water shores. From the ‘Kagerplassen’ it is recommended to go ashore at the picturesque Isle of Kaag. The isle has a ferry connection to the main land. The Kaag is a good starting point for a delicious lunch, picnic or cup of coffee at one of the many terraces along the water shore.
