Living Heritage

This years’ theme ‘Living Heritage’ allows us to put our most important living heritage, the craftsmanship of miller, into the limelight. Literally, because their monuments - our mills – will be in the spotlight on the evening of 9 September. Additionally, is ‘a tour on the bike’ also something we pass down from one generation to another and perfectly suited for our surroundings, like a boat trip is too.

Activities Monuments Day 2023

Mills illuminated - September 9, 20.00-24.00 o'clock

Our mills in Kaag & Braassem deserve to be in the spotlight. During the Mill night on Saturday 9 September 2023, we will actually take care of that. At a number of mills, special events are organized. Visit the story teller, walk along with our guide or learn how to make fabulous pictures with your smartphone during a workshop. Hop-on, hop-off boat tour - September 9, 10.00-16.00 o'clock

To visit the farms on Zwarteweg 4 and 13 and the ‘Rode Molen’ in Oud-Ade, we offer a hop-on, hop-off boat tour. Hop-on board and visit the farms and mill. Hop-off where you like to visit the monument and hop-on the next boat to continue.

Cycle the Eleven villages tour - September 9&10, 10.00-16.00 o'clock

We will guide our visitors by bike with an Eleven villages tour along the monuments. A connection tour: The eleven villages of Kaag & Braassem connected to each other via a route. How fun is it to see something interesting in each village? Don’t forget to collect your stamp at one of the monuments. (one stamp per village, we will give you Nieuwe Wetering). Six stamps on your card will give you an ice-cream voucher.
