Museum harbour in Oude Wetering

From 22-25 October 2023, the Wetering will turn into a Museum harbour. Historical ships, activities and commotion; there will be lots to see and to do.

Van 22 t/m 25 oktober 2023 is de Wetering in Oude Wetering een museumhaven. Historische schepen, activiteiten en reuring: er is genoeg te zien en te doen.

Oude Wetering – Strontrace autumn reunion

As part of the anniversary activities of the 50^th Strontrace, there will be a Strontrace autumn reunion in Oude Wetering from 22-25 October.
This reunion is organised in close collaboration with Kaag & Braassem promotion and the national association for the preservation of historical commercial vessels (LVBHB).

Historical setting

During the Strontrace autumn reunion in Oude Wetering, historical vessels will be docked in the Wetering, as matching setting for the vessels passing from Workum, or returning from Warmond, to pick up pickles from Roelofarendsveen as return freight. Eyecatcher in the Wetering will be to 50 meters long freight ship Terra Nova (1929). (www.terranova1929.nl/).

Sunday 22 October

• Arrival Terra Nova and other vessals
  • Around 12:00 hrs. inbound at De Wetering from Braassemermeer
• Open ships day.
  • From 12:00 hrs. historical vessels will moor along the quay of the Kerkstraat in Oude Wetering. A shanty coir will welcome the vessels.
  • 12:00 – 17:00 hrs. visit historical vessels
• Terra Nova open to public
  • 13:30 – 17:00 hrs. open to public
  • Exhibit historical shipping Oude Wetering

Monday 23 October

• Local primary schools will visit the historical vessels
  • Between 09:00– 12:30 hrs.
    • Welcome at Terra Nova
    • Childeren will visit the ships in small groups
  • Open ships day
    • 09:00 – 17:00 hrs. visit historical ships
    • Participants of the Strontrace will start in Workum at 13.00 hrs.
      • Can be followed live on board the Terra Nova

Tuesday 24 October

• Arrival participants Strontrace
  • During the day, the first participants of the Strontrace will arrive in Oude Wetering at around 11:00 hrs. (expected). On board the Terra Nova, skippers will sign the consignment notes and receive the pots of pickles.

  • Ferry service Kagenaar Hylke Tromp
• Open ships day
  • 09:00 – 17:00 hrs. visit old vessles
• Terra Nova open to public
  • 11:00 – 22:00 hrs.

Wednesday 25 October

• Arrival participants strontrace
  • 09:00 – 12:00 hrs. visit historical vessels.
  • During the day, the last participants of the Strontrace will arrive in Oude Wetering. On board the Terra Nova, skippers will sign the consignment notes and receive the pots of pickles.
